Singapore Changi Airport Has A Dinosaur-Themed Cycle Path To A Nearby Park

The Changi Airport Connector is a two-mile (3.5-km) cycling and jogging track linking Singapore Changi Airport to the East Coast Park. Here, visitors will find the Changi Jurassic Mile, a dinosaur-themed cycle path that is home to over 20 life-like dinosaur models. The trail is part of a wider network that extends across the island nation, known as the Park Connector Network.

Singapore Changi Airport has consistently been named among the World’s Best Airports by Skytrax for over a decade, with a 7-year run at the top of the list until it was dethroned by Doha’s Hamad International Airport in 2021.

With a reputation that precedes itself, Changi Airport is known for its unique passenger experience, as showcased in the airport’s shopping, dining, and entertainment offerings. One of these attractions is the Changi Jurassic Mile, which opened in 2020, after a delay due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Since then, popularity has picked up as borders reopen and tourism resumes. In fact, Changi Airport recently reported that it welcomed 10 million passengers in the third quarter of the year – showing positive recovery.

Changi Jurassic Mile is a 0.6-mile (1 km) stretch within the Changi Airport Connector that features 22 life-sized dinosaur models from nine species. As visitors cycle or jog along the trail – complete with safari-themed music – they can spot iconic pre-historic creatures such as the Tyrannosaurus Rex and Velociraptors that seemed to have to “destroy” parts of the track. Less menacing residents include the towering Brontosaurus and baby dinosaurs peeking out of enormous eggs.

The life-like exhibits are accompanied by information panels, providing a fun and equally educational experience for all ages.

The complete experience

The Changi Airport Connector also hosts a pit stop facility where visitors can pop in for a meal, rent bicycles, and refresh with a shower. For travelers who intend to “bike and fly”, they may store their bicycles at the facility for up to 10 days at a time.

The Changi Airport Connector offers access between the airport and rest of Singapore, connecting to more than 186 miles (300 km) of trails via the Park Connector Network. Besides being an added attraction for visitors traveling to Singapore, the path is also a convenient alternative for airport staff commuting to and from work – a sustainable way of getting around.

Jayson Goh, Changi Airport Group’s Managing Director for Airport Operations Management said,

“We are now able to offer airport staff an alternative route to get to and from the airport, and a new recreational option for local residents. The new experiential elements injected along the Changi Jurassic Mile will offer all who visit a sense of adventure and surprise. With the Changi Airport Connector, we hope to give visitors a different experience of the airport.”

The Changi Airport Connector begins at Terminal 2 and runs parallel to the airport’s ground handling services, Terminal 4, and the Tanah Merah Country Club. Entrance to the Changi Jurassic Mile exhibit is free.
