Upcoming 7 seater cars – Hyundai Stargazer
If we look at Hyundai, it does has the Alcazar with a 7-seater option. However, for some buyers, it falls on the pricier side. To tackle this situation, Hyundai might bring its affordable MPV – Stargazer, to the Indian market. This MPV could be priced between 10 lakh to 15 lakh (ex-showroom) which could eventually place it against Maruti Ertiga, Kia Carens, Maruti XL6, and others. The powertrain of this car could be in tandem with the Kia Carens. 2 petrol engine options along with a diesel engine could be on offer. Other than this, we can expect features like a large infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster, roof-mounted AC vents, wireless charging and more.
Toyota Innova Hycross
Toyota has completely revamped the Innova moniker with this car. The new Innova HyCross is set to be unveiled on November 25th with its new design, features, hybrid technology and many more. What can we expect? For starters, Toyota has broken new ground by building up this from scratch. The new car retains minimal characteristics from its predecessor. Then if we talk about its powertrain, it is likely to get a 2.0-liter pure petrol engine and also a 2.0-liter strong hybrid setup. Pricing is expected to start from Rs 20lakh (ex-showroom).
Citroen is a newcomer in the Indian car market. It is looking forward to diversifying its portfolio with an affordable MPV car. This new MPV is expected to be the ‘AirCross’ version of the C3. So, this new Citroen MPV could be getting an additional 3rd-row seating, more features and also a turbo petrol engine option. The French automaker which is known for its impressive suspension setups could also tweak this one accordingly. This MPV could be the most comfortable MPV in its segment.
Upcoming 7 seater cars – Maruti’s Innova rebadge
Maruti’s most expensive MPV is likely to be the rebadged version of the Toyota Innova HyCross. As we are aware of the fact that Toyota and Maruti are in partnership, this rebadging could soon be seen in future. This new Maruti version of Innova could prioritize the pure petrol powertrain option whereas Toyota could focus on the strong hybrid (similar case seen on the Grand Vitara and Urban Cruiser HyRyder). Featurewise it is likely to continue the list of a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, ambient lighting, ottoman rear seat, smartphone connectivity and more.
Nissan has already showcased the X-Trail past month. The Japanese automaker’s new flagship SUV is likely to launch next year. This new SUV is expected to lock horns with the ever-popular Toyota Fortuner (which is also likely to get updated). The new X-Trail would kickstart petrol hybrid options in this segment with its ‘e-POWER’ and ‘e-4orce’ variants. Other than this, we can expect this new Nissan flagship to have features like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, electronic parking brake, Heads Up Display, panoramic sunroof and more.

The new MG Hector is likely to be launched at the end of this year. This new car is expected to persist in its loaded list of tech gizmos along with some more. So, we are expecting features like a 14-inch infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, soft-touch materials and more. Engine specification wise it is likely to remain the same but MG could now offer an option of a diesel automatic.
New Toyota Fortuner
Toyota is working on the generation update of its dominant SUV – the Fortuner. Starting from its platform, the Japanese automaker would base the new Fortuner on its TNGA-F modular architecture. Other than this, the brand is expected to induce mild hybrid technology on the new Fortuner. As features felt short in the current Fortuner, the new-gen is likely to mount them. The updated infotainment system, multicolour ambient lighting, sunroof, and digital instrument cluster could be seen in the new Fortuner.

Force recently showcased the Gurkha 5-door at an Indonesian Expo. The new 5-door model would go head-on-head against the upcoming Maruti Jimny and Mahindra Thar 5-door. To increase its VFM bias, Force might give the Gurkha a 3rd-row seating option. This will increase its overall practicality and if the brand manages to give it some more features, this car might be a perfect choice for lifestyle offroad buyers.
Tata Safari facelift
Tata Safari facelift has been spotted multiple times testing on Indian roads. Tata’s flagship SUV was outshined by the Mahindra XUV700, Scorpio-N and other enticing products in the market. However, Tata has realised its raw nerve and now we are expecting it to make a great comeback with the Safari facelift. The new model is likely to get more features like a bigger touchscreen, 360-degree camera, ADAS, etc. Moreover, Tata might offer a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine in the Safari to keep the initial costs down.
Upcoming 7 seater cars -Maruti Jimny 5-door
Maruti Jimny 5-door is one of the most anticipated launches this year. India’s largest carmaker is touted to unveil the Jimny 5-door at Indian Auto Expo 2023. To be sold under the Nexa premium dealerships, this car is the successor of the iconic Maruti Gypsy. This 5 door version might get an optional 3rd row seating as the wheelbase is 300mm longer than the standard 3 door version. Under the hood, the Jimny could be made available with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine making 138bhp. Maruti would also offer the ‘All Grip Pro’ 4WD tech in this lifestyle offroader. Pricing of the Jimny is expected to start at Rs 12lakh (ex-showroom).
